What Sherman Oaks housing means for your roof
North of the boulevard the ground is flat and the streets run on a grid. SurveyLA, the city's own historic resources survey, recorded the nine blocks around Nagle and Varna as a postwar tract of one-story Minimal Traditional and Ranch houses built between 1946 and 1954, on lots averaging 58 feet wide and 129 feet deep. That is the flatland pattern. Shallow pitch, wide eave, composition shingle, and a side yard barely wide enough to walk a bundle down. Two things put water inside.
