If water is coming in right now
Do these first, then call:
- Move whatever's underneath it, whether that's furniture, rugs, electronics, or boxes in the attic. Water spreads sideways once it's in the ceiling.
- Put a bucket down and a towel around it. If the ceiling is bulging, that's a pocket of water sitting up there. A small hole at the lowest point of the bulge drains it into the bucket and usually saves the whole ceiling.
- If water is anywhere near a light fitting or a socket, switch that circuit off at the panel.
- Photograph it before you clean up. The wet patch, the stain on the ceiling, the room, and the outside of the house if you can see anything obvious from the ground. Send us those photos and they'll help us work out where to start.
- Stay off the roof. Wet tile and wet composition shingle are both far more slippery than they look, and going up in the rain is the most common way homeowners get badly hurt. We'll bring the ladder and the footwear for it.
What to tell us
The more you can tell us, the better. Useful things to mention: the address or at least the neighborhood, what kind of roof it is if you know (tile, shingle, flat), roughly how old, whether it's one story or two, and whether you own the place or manage it. Then tell us what's going on. Maybe there's an active leak, or tiles have slipped, or the roof has just had its day.
What happens next
Tell us where you are and what kind of roof you have, and we'll get a licensed roofer out to you anywhere in Los Angeles County.
You get the name and CSLB license number of the roofer coming out before they turn up, so you can check it yourself on the CSLB website.
We call you and set a time. They come out, look at the roof properly, and give you a written quote. No charge for the visit, and no obligation to go ahead.
Read the quote at your own pace. If something in it isn't clear, or you want a repair priced next to a replacement, say so and we'll go back over the roof with you. That's free too.
When you'll hear from someone
Get in touch during the day and you'll usually hear back the same day. Evenings and weekends, it's normally the next morning. During the rainy stretch from October to March everything runs a little slower, because that's when every roofer in the county is fielding calls. If you're standing under an active leak, say so when you call and we'll treat it that way.
Ready when you are
It costs nothing to find out what the roof needs. A rough description is enough to start.
